The management team has experience working with over 21,000 auto dealerships and millions of consumers in the United States and Canada. What is Fair Lending?
Fair lending is the fair, equitable, and nondiscriminatory access to credit for consumers. It is generally used in reference to laws such as, but not limited to; Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Fair Housing Act that are designed to protect consumers from lending discrimination. The ECOA applies directly to Global Lending Services’ (GLS) line of business.
The Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), which was enacted in 1974, applies to all creditors. The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 granted authority to the CFPB to supervise for and enforce compliance with ECOA and its implementing regulations. The purpose of the ECOA is to prevent discrimination and promote the availability of credit to all creditworthy applicants without regard to any of the “prohibited basis”. The prohibited basis under ECOA are: Race, Color, Religion, National Origin, Sex, Marital Status, Age, Receipt of Public Assistance, and if the applicant has in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.
The standards in this policy represent minimum requirements based on applicable legal and regulatory guidance. They are intended to prevent GLS, our shareholders, employees, temporary or contract staff, and vendors from engaging in any unlawful and discriminatory practices.

Doug’s career began in the automotive business more than 25 years ago while attending the University of Georgia. He has held various dealership management positions, including F&I Manager, Sales Manager and General Manager. In 1992, Doug formed Safe-Guard Products International, LLC with the simple philosophy of developing products that protect consumers from the perils of vehicle ownership while producing additional revenue for its clients. Safe-Guard supports thousands of dealers nationally with multiple products and services. In 2007, Doug sold 80% of Safe-Guard to HIG Capital, an investment firm based in Miami, FL, which held the equity until December 2012, at which time they and Doug sold to Goldman Sachs. Knowing his exit from the warranty business was drawing near, Doug founded Global Lending Services LLC in 2011. Currently, Doug is very active in the business processes of GLS and serves as the Chairman and Founder.
Steve has been a pioneer in the industry, in driving new programs and leveraging technology to better assist Dealers with their sub-prime needs. Prior to joining GLS, Steve spent 14 years with Capital One and was part of the original leadership team that built Capital One Auto Finance from a $200 million start-up to one of the premier lenders in the industry, with over $25 billion in loans. During his time at Capital One, Steve was responsible for much of the early innovation at Capital One, including the Indirect Sub-Prime Program, AutoDecisioning, Pre-Approval Mailer, Buyer Model and Dealer Rewards Program. Prior to Capital One, Steve served as a Management Consultant within A.T. Kearney’s Automotive Practice. Steve holds an MBA from the University of Texas, as well as both a M.S. and B.S. in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. In his role as Chief Executive Officer, Steve will strategically drive the expansion of GLS to be a dynamic leader in the Sub-Prime industry.
Mark has over 23 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining GLS in 2012, mark worked in investment banking raising capital for and providing advisory services to specialty finance companies. Throughout his career, Mark has advised public and private finance companies during all stages of their develpment. Mark joined GLS after 4 years with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Prior to SunTrust, Mark worked with Wachovia Securities, Banc of America Securities, Lehman Brothers, and Morgan Stanley. Mark graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill with a BA in Economics, attended the London School of Economics, and received his MBA, with acedemic honors, from the University of Virgina’s Darden School.
Michael has a distinguished 25+ year management career serving in C-level positions in public and private organizations in the auto finance sector. Michael served as the Chief Strategy and Technology Officer for Sixth Gear, Inc. from 2007-2008 and participated on the team that raised the initial private equity and led the build-out of the technology platform to launch the business. Michael also served as member of the executive management team of AmeriCredit Corp holding several leadership positions including Chief Credit Officer and Chief Operating Officer from 1991-2003 and led the development of the analytics, technology, marketing and operational areas of the company while growing the portfolio to $15 billion. Michael holds an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and an undergraduate degree in finance from Texas A&M University.
Dan’s career spans over 25 years focused on analytics in the banking and finance, insurance and retail industries. Dan has extensive experience leading modeling and analytics teams along with developing advanced modeling and analytics best practices. Most recently Dan served as Senior Vice President of Predictive Analytic Products at Valen Analytics, providing predictive model scores and data products and services to the property and casualty insurance industry. Prior to Valen, Dan led strategic modeling and data initiatives at Capital One Auto Finance, helping the company grow from $260M in managed loans to currently over $25B.
Mr. Morris has spent the last 28+ years of his successful career in the auto lending industry, building highly effective teams and profitable companies through his many contributions and vast experience in all aspects of the industry. Mr. Morris’ achievements include defining, developing and successfully executing on strategic initiatives involving talent, process and technology. He brings critical competencies in auto finance operations, sales and marketing, credit originations, loan servicing and collections, credit risk management, product management and information management. Prior to joining GLS, Mr. Morris, in 2009, co-founded CarFinance Capital LLC, and served as their Chief Operating Officer. While at CarFinance, he established programs, pricing, policy, procedures, licensing and its technical foundation including loan origination and servicing capabilities. Under Mr. Morris’ management, CarFinance, achieved profitability in its second calendar year, exceeded $1 billion in originations, established a $350 million warehouse facility and successfully executed five ABS securitizations totaling $777 million, and had a managed portfolio of 45,000 active accounts exceeding $850 million and FTE of 295, of which 75% reported to Mr. Morris. Prior to CarFinance, he served as the Executive VP of Fireside Bank, where he was responsible for loan production and branch operations. And, prior to Fireside Bank, he worked for Triad Financial and Household Automotive Finance Corporation. Mr. Morris is highly effective in up-down communication, from staff members to board of directors, and he has an extensive network range from dealers and vendors to strategic alliance partners, banks and investors, regulators and rating agencies. He has been invited to speak at many industry functions, the last being on an Executive panel discussing the state of the industry at the October 2013 Auto Finance Summit. Mr. Morris received his B.S. Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from San Diego State University.
Thomas has 3 years of specialty finance, capital raising, and financial advisory experience. Most recently, Thomas served as a Senior Analyst at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey supporting a broader Financial Services & Technology Practice of over 20 senior bankers in 4 primary industry verticals. Prior to SunTrust, Thomas served as AVP of Finance at US Premium Finance, a leading P&C insurance premium finance company. Thomas received a BBA in Finance, Accounting, and Venture Management from Goizueta Business School at Emory University in 2009.
Richard Mashburn brings over 20 years of experience in automotive retail and lending. Richard’s automotive experience spans roles including Finance Director, General Manager and General Manager of Operations for Dealer Groups. Prior to joining Global Lending Services, Richard worked with ADP Digital Solutions focusing on internet presence and social media in the automotive retail space. Most recently Richard was Vice President and Market Sales Manager for Wells Fargo Merchant Services. Richard joined Wells Fargo Auto Finance in 2004. Richard has his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business and Economics from the College of Charleston.
Al has over 25 years of experience in the banking and consumer finance industry. Prior to joining GLS, he worked as a regulatory remediation consultant from 2010 through 2015 assisting client banks by addressing requirements of consent orders and other formal agreements. Al has significant experience in the auto finance sector and worked for Capital One from 1997 through 2010 as an Audit Executive for various business segments including; Auto Finance, US Card, UK Card and Mortgage. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of leading edge audit practices and worked closely with the auto finance leadership team to strengthen internal controls, risk management and compliance practices. Al holds an MBA from Virgina Commonwealth University and an undergraduate degree in accounting from James Madison University.
Amberley has many years of experience in the automotive F&I industry. She joins Global Lending Services after 4 1/2 years with Safe-Guard Products International, LLC, where she worked with Safe-Guard’s and GLS’ Founder & Chairman, Douglas Duncan. While at Safe-Guard, Amberley worked closely with industry agents, executives and personnel. At GLS, Amberley is mainly responsible for company marketing to Agent & Dealer Partners; including all web, print & PR materials, the development and implementation of the client services team and processes, and the overall office management/planning for the headquarter office located in Atlanta, GA. Amberley received a BBA in Marketing from the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University.
Frank is responsible for the strategic execution and oversight of GLS’servicing department functions which include, Collections, Customer Service and Remarketing. Frank has extensive experience in operations management including third party, business process outsourcing and first party administration. Prior to joining Global Lending Services, Frank was Vice President of Ventus Capital/Capital Management Services, a third party collections agency. In this role, Frank had management responsibilities for P&L, budgeting and client relationships, handling over $1.0 billion in annual placement volumes. He was also Director of Operations for the Royal Bank of Canada. Within the BPO Operations Center he was responsible for maintaining client service standards on over 6,000 weekly transactions. Prior to RBC, Frank was with Ford Motor Credit Company where he was responsible for managing a $10 billion automobile retail and lease loan portfolio with over 300 associates. Mr. Salamone earned his B.A. in Finance from the University of South Florida and holds an MBA from Christian Brothers University, Memphis, TN.
Brian Gyomory has over 20 years of experience in the auto finance industry. Prior to working in the deep sub-prime industry with Global Lending Services, Brian served as Vice President of Risk Management for Resurgent Auto Finance. Brian contributed his extensive expertise to launch and grow the company in the areas of Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, Systems and Operations. Prior to joining Resurgent in 2007, Brian led teams across multiple locations as General Manager of Credit and Residual Value Risk Management during his eight-year tenure with VW Credit, Inc. in Auburn Hills, MI. For nine years prior to joining VW Credit, Inc., Brian served in a variety of risk management and operational leadership positions at Ford Motor Credit Company. Brian has an MBA in Finance from Northeastern University and a BBA in Accounting from Northwood University.
Andy has over 15 years of experience in Information Technology and a background in Chemical Engineering. Prior to joining GLS, Andy spent 13 years with Capital One, where he focused on building and running world class Business Intelligence solutions and led the transformation of the data environment to enable powerful analytics which drove Capital One to become a premier lender in subprime auto finance. Andy has a broad range of technical and leadership skills, and served as CIO at an internet startup prior to joining Capital One. At GLS, Andy will drive the strategy and execution of Business Intelligence. Andy graduated from the University of Virginia.
With more than 10 years Human Resources experience, Kathleen has supported the strategic initiatives of growing organizations in the educational, financial services and healthcare industries. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of South Carolina Upstate, she served two local school districts before teaming up with an independent investor as Co-Founder and Director of Palmetto International Preparatory School. Before joining the GLS in 2012, Kathleen held progressive HR roles with Bon Secours St. Francis Health System and Canal Insurance Company. At GLS, she remains focused on all aspects of Human Capital Management.
Bill has over 20 years of practical technology experience in the auto and mortgage finance sectors. Most recently, Bill served for 2 years in an IT portfolio management role for TMX Finance. Prior to his experience at TMX he was the CIO for MortgageFlex Systems in Jacksonville, FL for over 4 years. During his tenure there he managed internal application development teams as well as cloud services for several financial institutions. Bill also has experience in building IT teams and processes for Sarbanes-Oxley and SSAE 16 environmental controls. Bill graduated from Georgia State University with a BBA in Information Systems.
With more than 25 years of professional experience in finance positions of increasing responsibility, Ken brings considerable experience and expertise to GLS. His career has been highlighted by working with companies that started out small and quickly grew very large. Prior to joining GLS, he held senior finance positions with another auto finance company that grew its portfolio by more than $700 million over a five-year period. Prior to that Ken was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Centerplate, Inc., where he led the company through a spin-off from a Fortune 1000 company, merged it with a competitor and led it through as successful IPO. During his twelve years in this position, the company’s sales grew rapidly from $165 million to more than $680 million. Ken graduated summa cum laude from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in Music/Business and earned an MBA from The University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. In addition, Ken is a Certified Public Accountant.
Kristen’s background includes over 8 years of legal experience in private practice. Prior to joining Global Lending Services, she practiced as a litigator and creditors’ rights/ bankruptcy attorney representing both commercial and consumer secured and unsecured creditors in collection, foreclosure, bankruptcy, workout and restructuring matters. Kristen also has experience working with regional and national creditors to comply with a variety of consumer finance protection laws. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology from Miami University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Wake Forest University School of Law.
